From a technical standpoint the Cronus uses a triode preamplifier coupled to the excellent Atlas Magnum power amplifier. A large oversized linear power supply stores tremendous energy for low frequency response and dynamic headroom. The tube circuitry is cutting edge with short signal paths exacted in a low noise design. Finally, precision components are used to provide the transparency and air that are so critical to accurate musical reproduction.
Improvements over the Cronus Magnum
Rogue Audio have added 6 dB of gain to the phono section and improved the sound with an additional stage of regulation. The variable outputs are now buffered for better subwoofer performance and the headphone amplifier has also been improved. A mute function has been added to the remote control and the overall noise floor has been significantly lowered.
