Rafael Kubelik & Others Ludwig van Beethoven: Symphonies No.1-9 Box Set (4 SHM-SACD)

This box set of four SACDs contains the nine symphonies of Ludwig van Beethoven, conducted by Rafael Kubelik with various orchestras. The performances include the London Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre de Paris, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Cleveland Orchestra and the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. Helen Donath (soprano), Teresa Berganza (mezzo-soprano), Wieslaw Ochman (tenor), Thomas Stewart (bass) and the Bavarian Radio Choir will sing. The recordings date from 1972 – 1975.
This title is a SHM-SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It achieves a significantly better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal's SHM-SACDs are generally re-digitized from the master tapes of the albums to DSD without any changes. SHM-SACDs can be played on any SACD player.
