  • Описание

With English charm, exceptional talent and creative openness, the young British musician Anna Lapwood not only inspires critics, but also an audience of millions on social media. On her Sony Classical debut album "Luna", which will be released on September 29, she gives an insight into her extensive musical cosmos.
The fifteen tracks on the album highlight her versatility and combine traditional repertoire by Johann Sebastian Bach, Claude Debussy and Philip Glass with contemporary compositions by Max Richter, Ludovico Einaudi and Hans Zimmer. On "Luna", Anna Lapwood can primarily be experienced as an organist, but other facets of her musical life also come to the fore when she conducts the Pembroke College Chapel Choir on two tracks.
Anna Lapwood plays the organ, violin and harp and is active as a conductor and orchestra leader. born in Oxfordshire in 1995, she was the first woman in the history of Magdalen College Oxford to be awarded an organ scholarship. in 2016, she became the youngest musical director in Cambridge and has been conducting the choirs and ensembles of Pembroke College ever since. After hours and at dusk, she is given special access to the majestic instrument at the Royal Albert Hall as an Associate Artist of the Royal Albert Hall. This has led to some spectacular collaborations. The most famous of which is with electronic musician Bonobo. On TikTok, she reaches more than 550,000 followers with these equally relaxed and spectacular musical excursions.
Anna Lapwood uses the mechanisms of social media to inspire a young audience for the organ and classical music. Anna Lapwood is also keen to get young women interested in her instrument. She therefore regularly leads organ workshops and organizes the "Cambridge Organ Experience for Girls" as well as the annual 24-hour "Bachathon" to raise money for musicians in Zambia. Her anthology of 12 new organ pieces by female composers, called 'Gregoriana', curated and published for Stainer & Bell, was named 'Release of the Year' by Presto Music in 2022. After being encouraged to "play like a man" as a young organ student, Anna Lapwood created the now popular hashtag #playlikeagirl. In 2023, she received the prestigious "Gamechanger" award from the Royal Philharmonic Society for her social commitment
Anna Lapwood made her solo debut at the BBC Proms in 2021 with Saint-Saëns' Organ Symphony and regularly performs as a soloist with leading symphony orchestras and conductors, has been a guest on Classic FM Live and has collaborated with artists such as Alison Balsom, Bonobo and Benedict Cumberbatch. Highlights of the 2023 / 24 season include concerts on the east and west coasts of the United States, including her debut at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles.
