The French-born violinist Devy Erlih (1928-2012) was one of the great names of the French violin school and was one of the most important representatives of contemporary music in the country at the time. In 1955 he won the prestigious "Thibaud" competition, which brought him widespread fame; yet there are few shots of his beautiful, imaginative and casual playing. He is accompanied by the French star pianist Brigitte Engerer, who is less well known in Germany despite her interpretations of German Romantics such as Schubert and Schumann, which are highly regarded by musicians.
Released on vinyl for the first time, this double LP contains his live performances from 1971 and 1980: Mozart, Schubert and Beethoven were recorded at the Salle Gaveau in Paris, Bach and Paganini at the Maison de la Radio in Paris. The release of Analogphonic comes on Virgin vinyl, pressed by Toyokasei in Japan.
