Latin Grammy Award Winner on 180g Virgin Vinyl!
Mastering by Bernie Grundman!
Recognized by The Absolute Sound as one of the 40 Best Recordings of All Time!
"Cellist Antonio Lysy and pianist Bryan Pezzone play gorgeously and are gorgeously recorded, the sound immaculately clear and immediate, rich in tonal splendor, and revealing of the venue (Santa Monica's The Broad Stage). The deeply resonant cello pizzicatos at the end of Schifrin's Pampas ring off into air-filled space like starlight into infinity." - Mark Lehman, The Absolute Sound, 2013
"You'll hear the sound quality right away, I'm sure. Even before your brain starts analyzing the soundstage, bass and treble extension, dynamics macro and micro, etc., you'll know you like it." - George Witterschein, The Audiophile Voice
Yarlung first released this music on the CD Antonio Lysy at The Broad: Music from Argentina. It won Yarlung’s first Grammy Award and earned a spot on The Absolute Sound’s list of the 40 best sounding recordings of all time, along with Kind of Blue, Famous Blue Raincoat and Ella and Louis.
"...Accompanying Lysy (cello) and Motta (bass) on the opening tracks, Bragato's Graciela y Buenos Aires, the Capitol Ensemble underpins the high points of Motta's bowed and plucked contrabass while Lysy's cello is captured nicely: not too close and not too far away. The sound on a solo performance of Ginastera's Punena No. 2 highlights the drama of the composition along with Lysy's superb control of the cello. When the trio of Lysy, Levy and Pezzone perform Piazzolla's Milonga del angel, instruments are proportioned well and the movement is slow and beautiful sounding. Lysy's solo performance of Golijov's Omaramor is a seamless wave of emotion. The final track, Ginastera's Zamba from Cinco Canciones Populares Argentinas, is short and sweet: excellent!" - Andre Jenning, The Absolute Sound, January 2019
