This recording was released in 1958 on "Shaded Dog", an RCA label. Reiner's legendary recording of the "1812 Overture," which was only available as a 1S pressing, was canceled by Mercury Living Presence with live cannon shots shortly after the release of the same work. The recording of this new edition is downright mind-altering and convinces with the incomparable wind section of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In addition to the well-known "1812 Overture" by Tchaikovsky, various other works are captured on this recording from 1956 – basically a "Best Of Fritz Reiner".
The new edition of the "RCA Living Stereo Classical" series from Analogue Productions meets the highest audiophile standards: Bernie Grundman is responsible for the remastering of the original tapes. The double LP (45 rpm) was pressed on 180-gram vinyl at industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP) using Classic Records equipment and includes a 2-page booklet.
