Bernard Herrmann The Mysterious Film World Of Bernard Herrmann (2 LP)

In 1968, Bernard Herrmann signed a contract with Decca's subsidiary London Records to record some of his film scores as part of the stereo series "Phase 4". In this series, The Mysterious Film World of Bernard Herrmann was made in 1975, a compilation of film scores for "Lord of the Three Worlds" (The Three Worlds of Gulliver), "The Mysterious Island" and "Jason and the Argonauts". The recording from London's Kingsway Hall with the National Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the audiophile gems of the time. The sound unfolds its sheen and the rich playback gives the composition dignity and intensity. Herrmann slightly reduced the tempo for the recordings so that the musicians can play out every detail and nuance and thus bring the depth and complexity of the works to the fore.

The remastering of the original analog tapes was done by Bernie Grundman, the pressing of the 45 double LP with 180 g was done by RTI. The edition, limited to 2,500 copies, appears in the gatefold cover.
