Karl Böhm occupies a special position in the history of the Vienna Philharmonic. In 1967, the orchestra was the first to award the doctor of law the title of "honorary conductor". This award was later only given to Herbert von Karajan. The relationship between conductor and orchestra was intimate, as Böhm's words on the occasion of their last collaboration show: "I loved them as one can love a human being. When I heard it for the first time, on the standing ground floor of the Musikverein, when I was allowed to conduct 'Tristan' in the Staatsoper for the first time.“
In his sixth symphony Ludwig van Beethoven processed his impressions as a city man in a rural environment and imitated nature sounds with instrumental means. The Pastorale is considered the forerunner of the program music of the 19th century. Böhm's work as a conductor is based on the Ideal of accuracy and naturalness, his unmistakable feeling for tempos can also be felt here.
Limited to 2,000 copies, hand-numbered.
