Spanish dances from the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, played on historical instruments by a septet under the direction of Gregorio Paniagua, released on a Swedish classical label are typically not the stuff for audiophile dreams. In this case, however, everything is different. The Swedish label BIS landed a Hit in the world of early music with this release in 1980 - and a group of astonished audiophile record listeners also got completely new musical pleasure with instruments such as a spinet, a bass Crooked horn or a metallophone and of course the Spanish guitar.
The legendary recording is now available as a double LP by Audionautes in Italy. It was recomposed not from the original Master, but from the previous Session Tapes; seen from the tapes that were later compiled into a Master. Old master Stan Ricker in Half-Speed Mastering in California took over the paint cut. The 180g-LPs were pressed at Pallas in Diepholz and packed by hand in Italy. There are only 1,000 numbered copies worldwide.
A warning is still given. Stan Ricker has cut at high level and at full high resolution. A Neumann SX-74 cutting head burned through him. So be sure that your turntable is set correctly in order to be able to follow the music pleasure in the best possible way.
