TAS Super LP List! Special Merit: Informal
A New Way To Bring Vinyl Fans Closer To The Original Recording!
Features Steve Strauss, Brian Flanagan, Katja Werker, David Munyon & Allan Taylor!
We have found a new way to bring vinyl fans even closer to the original recording. Our DMM Lathe cuts the audio into a copper plated steel disc. We normally use this process to create a 14" DMM-Master that is sent to pressing plants for the production of vinyl records. Our new DMM-Dubplate however, is about the same size as a 12" vinyl record. This makes it possible to play it on any record player and helps you bypass the loss in sound quality that is caused by the additional steps in the production of records, such as galvanic processes and the pressing of the vinyl. The DMM-Dubplate avoids issues like pre-echos and crackling noises. The high purity phosphate-copper has very little groove noise and clicking noises are seldom. Only one side of a DMM disc is recordable since the backside is not copper plated. The tracking force of the tonearm can be left as is.

Important Information: The DMM-Dubplate should not be washed with a record-cleaning machine, since it might cause a chemical reaction on the copper surface. In contrast to a vinyl record, there's no mechanical abrasion and no electrostatic charge in the copper groove. After the DMM-Dubplate has been played, it should be placed back in the plastic sleeve together with the white protection sheet, in order to prevent oxidation.
Please also note: With the DMM-Dubplate, the wear-rate of the diamond-stylus is comparable to when playing a regular vinyl record.
For friends of vinyl records, we have found a new way to get even closer to the original sound: We cut the music program onto copper-coated stainless steel plates - with the identical technology that we use for DMM dubbing for pressing plants.
Our DMM dubplate has approximately the same diameter as a 12" vinyl LP*. It can be played on any turntable and thus circumvents the significant reduction in quality of a pressed record. This is the result of the galvanic forming processes, the granules used, the pressing process, etc.
On a DMM dubplate, on the other hand, there are no pre-echoes and no crackling. The high-purity phosphate copper has almost no groove noise and rarely small clicks. However, the DMM dubplate is only copper-coated on one side and can therefore only be played on one side. You can maintain your usual contact pressure of the pickup.
* The DMM dubplate has a diameter of 320 mm, so its radius is 10 mm larger than a vinyl record. If you have a tangential tone arm, please check if your tone armallows this size before ordering the dubplate.
