Italian pianist and DJ Robert Miles landed a major international hit with his wonderful, dreamy dance hit "Children" (one of the biggest and best dance hits of the 1990s) from his debut album Dreamland. The album sometimes sounds like it's a single song (or a series of beats with similar chord progressions) that drags on for over an hour, which may distract some, but basically, that's exactly what makes its sonic dream world so engaging. It is dancefloor and chillout material at the same time; one of those discs where you can press the play button, drift off into another dimension and forget about the worries of the world. Dreamland, which is both melancholic and blissful, succeeds in its simplicity.
