This new cut of a reissue for the Theresa label is rich in exciting music. The percussionist Babatunde Lea inspires with rousing solos and inspires the ensembles and soloists in an overall top-class set again and again. The musicians were all based in San Francisco at the time, including guest soloists trumpeter Eddie Henderson and trombonist Julian Priester. Musically, the listener can expect Afro-Cuban jazz with elements of the electronics and funk of the 1970s. But despite some R&B-like vocals (which dominate in the last few tracks) and commercial moments, the music is excellent, there are some strong solos.
