Recorded in 1974, Weldon Irvine performs with a host of musicians for this album of bold, improvisational jazz and funk.
After two visionary LPs for his own small Nodlew label, Weldon Irvine signed with RCA for "Cosmic Vortex (Justice Divine)" and continued to explore the deeply spiritual and political terrain of his earlier work in a musical dimension that allows for funding from a major label.
This is a big, bold record in every way, with an amazingly strong focus on lyrics and vocals. At the same time, however, the melody lines spread like tentacles, characterized by the improvisational sensibilities of jazz and the deep groove spirit of funk.
