Through his numerous albums released by Venus Records, Eddie Higgins has firmly established his position as one of the most celebrated jazz pianists in Japan. For this set, Higgins was paired with two veteran horn players who share his mature, straight-ahead sensibilities: Scott Hamilton and Ken Peplowski.
The six titles of the second version of "It's Magic" were selected by the readers of the Japanese jazz magazine "Swing Journal". They were recorded by the quintet consisting of Higgins (piano), Scott Hamilton (tenor saxophone) and Ken Peplowski (clarinet and tenor saxophone), Jay Leonhart (bass) and Ben Riley (drums).
Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition has been sold, the titles will be deleted from the catalogue. Collectors should therefore consider a purchase in good time.
