Sarah Vaughan and her trio collaborate with the Count Basie Orchestra for this 1981 album – one of a total of three studio meetings! With "Send In The Clowns" they created a magical album that reminds us of the times when singer and orchestra shared the stage together in the legendary Birdland. The program looks far back into the singer's career and includes Vaughan's early hit "If You Could See Me Now" as well as one of her last signature songs: the title track! The entire program, arranged with flair by Sammy Nestico and Allyn Ferguson, is a masterstroke in which Vaughan pulls out all the stops in a setting that does justice to her sublime voice. "Send In The Clowns" was produced by Norman Granz and recorded on February 16 and 17 and May 16, 1981 at Group IV Recording Studios in Hollywood, California.
As part of the "Pablo Reissue Series", Analogue Productions pays tribute to this jazz gem with a sonically excellent reissue, lovingly mastered by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab. The LP, pressed on 180-gram vinyl, at industry leader Quality Record Pressings (QRP) and cut at 33 rpm, comes in a tip-on sleeve from Stoughton Printing.
