The pianist Eddie Higgins is arguably the biggest star of the Venus Records label and has already released numerous trio recordings. He has a continuous collaboration with tenor saxophonist Scott Hamilton, which began in 2001 with the quartet album "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" and continued with "My Foolish Heart" and "My Funny Valentine".
The wonderful clarinetist and tenor saxophonist Ken Peplowski joined the formation and made it a quintet on "It's Magic", which won the Swing Journal's Best Compilation Award in 2007. Now the golden quintet returns with "A Handful of Stars". The three giants, actively supported by Jay Leonhart and Joe Aszione, create beautiful and romantic music in a relaxed atmosphere. Their masterful taste, gentle swing and warm interplay are as beautiful and cozy as a log fire in the middle of winter.
Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition has been sold, the titles will be removed from the catalogue. Collectors should therefore consider buying in good time.
