Jazz bassist and singer Nicki Parrott's album "Sakura Sakura" is dedicated to spring, a season full of hope and the celebration of new life. She sings standards such as "April in Paris", "April Showers", "I Love Paris" as well as "Sakura Sakura", a traditional Japanese song about the cherry blossom, with the original lyrics in Japanese.
A stellar team of New York-based musicians supports the leader. Nicki's sister Lisa Parrott is prominently featured on soprano and baritone saxophone, and the participation of the great young trumpeter Dominick Farinacci is a welcome surprise. Another twist is bassist Martin Wind, who plays cello instead of his usual instrument.
Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition has been sold, the titles will be removed from the catalogue. Collectors should therefore consider buying in good time.
