Since his amazing debut in 1974 on the "Three Blind Mice" label, Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto has been a household name among jazz fans and audiophile music lovers around the world. Together with his trio, which also includes Hiroshi Kagawa (bass) and Hisao Osumi (drums), he has developed a career that has now spanned four decades. This recording was made on November 24, 2013 at Sony Music Studios in Tokyo, Japan. Just one day earlier, the trio had recorded another ten titles, which were released under the title "Gentle Blues". "What A Wonderful World" was produced, mixed and mastered by legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara, who knows how to capture the special magic of this trio like no other.
This live set by the Yamamato Trio, recorded at Jazz Is in Yokohama on November 16, 2019, features "Gentle Blues", "Caravan", "Nature Boy", "Misty", "No Problem", "You Don't Know Me" and "Tanabatasama".
Venus Records was founded in Japan in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The renowned label uses a special mastering process called "Hyper Magnum Sound" for the strictly limited double LP of "What A Wonderful World", which is cut at 33 rpm and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, which produces a powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide. A little hint: Venus LP reissues are only pressed once. If this is out of print, the corresponding title will be deleted from the catalogue and no longer reproduced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: The releases from the "Venus Masterpiece Collection" are particularly popular!
