Nicki Parrott is a double threat: She can play the bass and has a singing voice that shares the relaxed sexiness of Julie London and the coquettishness of Blossom Dearie. She has performed and recorded with the legendary guitarist Les Paul, pianist Rachel Z, and her sister, Lisa Parrott.
The Australian musician and composer Nicki Parrott is an absolute all-rounder: first trained on the flute and piano, she later switched to the double bass and achieved mastery and great popularity on this instrument. She performed for a long time at the legendary Les-Paul Sessions at the "Irdium" jazz club as well as in several successful Broadway ensembles and played together with pianist Rachel Z and her sister Lisa Parrott. "L-O-V-E: The New Best" is a great retrospective of the artist's work, which also shows how great she is as a singer: She combines the relaxed seductiveness of Julie London with the coquetry of Blossom Dearie.
Venus Records was founded in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a special mastering process called "Hyper Magnum Sound" for the strictly limited double LP of "L-O-V-E: The New Best", pressed on 180 gram vinyl, which produces a powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide. A small note: Venus LPs are only pressed once. If the edition is out of print, the corresponding title will be deleted from the catalogue and no longer reproduced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: The releases from the "Venus Masterpiece Collection" are particularly popular!
