Since his amazing debut in 1974 on the "Three Blind Mice" label, Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto has been a household name among jazz fans and audiophile music lovers around the world. Together with his trio, which also includes Hiroshi Kagawa (bass) and Hisao Osumi (drums), he has developed a career that has now spanned four decades. This recording was made on November 16, 2019 at the bar "Jazz is" in Yokohama, Japan, and takes the listener away from a fascinating world of sound. Yamamoto's unique sense of space and timing is even more evident live than on his already impressive studio albums. "Misty: Live At Jazz Is" was mixed and mastered by legendary engineer Tetsuo Hara, who knows how to capture the special magic of this trio like no other.
Venus Records was founded in Japan in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The renowned label uses a special mastering process called "Hyper Magnum Sound" for the strictly limited double LP of "Misty: Live At Jazz Is", cut at 33 rpm and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, which produces a powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide. A small note: Venus LPs are only pressed once. If the edition is out of print, the corresponding title will be deleted from the catalogue and no longer reproduced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: The releases from the "Venus Masterpiece Collection" are particularly popular!
