Venus Masterpiece Collection Limited Edition 180g Vinyl Double LP!
George Garzone is a marvelous tenor saxophonist who is also known as a highly regarded educator. Some of people he has taught includes Branford Marsalis, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, and many more. Garzone's debut album arrived fairly late in 1995 with the main influences coming from Stan Getz and John Coltrane.
For this exceptional release, Garzone tapped into his love of Getz as he was paired with Trio Da Paz, a superlative Brazillian trio led by the prominent guitarist, Romero Lubambo. In addition, piano expert Kenny Werner also joins this outstanding group of musicians.
The American tenor saxophonist George Garzone, whose powerful playing and adventurous flights of fancy with his long-time band "The Fringe" have made him a true legend in the Boston jazz scene, spent most of his life as a jazz educator. He started playing the saxophone at the age of six, played in a family band, and later attended music school in Boston. In addition, Garzone has been a guest musician in many areas, touring Europe with Jamaaladeen Tacuma and playing with stars such as Danilo Perez, Joe Lovano, Jack DeJohnette, Rachel Z and John Patitucci, among others. On "Night Of My Beloved", Garzone and his comrades-in-arms Kenny Werner (piano) as well as the trio Da Paz, consisting of Romero Lubambo (guitar), Nilson Matta (bass) and Duduka Da Fonseca (drums), dedicate themselves to bossa and many pieces composed by Jobim. The deep, romantic sound of his tenor makes you dream of hearing this kind of music in a bar on the beach on a Brazilian night. "Night Of My Beloved" was recorded on August 8 and 9, 2006 at "The Studio" in New York and produced by Todd Barkan and legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara. The latter is also responsible for the mixing and mastering of the album.
The casual listener might mistake this album as background music but that would be wrong. A sharp listener will pick up and savor the music being played by these masters. Each musician is tuned in to each other and aware of the right moment to play each note. This is an album that rewards deep listening.
Venus Records was founded in Japan in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The renowned label uses a special mastering process called "Hyper Magnum Sound" for the strictly limited double LP of "Night Of My Beloved", cut at 33 rpm and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, which produces a powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide. A little hint: Venus LP reissues are only pressed once. If this is out of print, the corresponding title will be deleted from the catalogue and no longer reproduced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: The releases from the "Venus Masterpiece Collection" are particularly popular!
Venus LPs are pressed only once. After the first edition has been sold, the titles will be removed from the catalogue. Collectors should therefore consider buying in good time.
