Three tenor saxophonists, Harry Allen, Ken Peplowski and Scott Hamilton, join forces for this album of six magical jazz tunes including "That Old Black Magic" and "You and the Night and the Music." The trio are backed by pianist Tom Ranier, bassist David Stone and drummer Kevin Kanner.
Three great tenor saxophonists, one mission: Harry Allen, Ken Peplowski and Scott Hamilton have joined forces for this album to give swing jazz three-dimensionality. The ensemble and the solos bring out the individuality of each individual musician and ensure a wonderful performance that combines tension and relaxation in a fascinating way. The trio will be accompanied by pianist Tom Ranier, bassist David Stone and drummer Kevin Kanner. "Like The Brightest Star" was recorded on February 19 and 20, 2019 at The Hideaway Studio in California and was produced, mixed and mastered by legendary sound engineer Tetsuo Hara.
Venus Records was founded in Japan in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The renowned label uses a special mastering process called "Hyper Magnum Sound" for the strictly limited double LP of "Like The Brightest Star", cut at 33 rpm and pressed on 180 gram vinyl, which produces a powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide. A little hint: Venus LP reissues are only pressed once. If this is out of print, the corresponding title will be deleted from the catalogue and no longer reproduced. Collectors should therefore not wait too long to order: The releases from the "Venus Masterpiece Collection" are particularly popular!
