Frank Sinatra Songs For Swingin' Lovers!

Sinatra and Riddle entered Capitol's KHJ Studios during four days in January 1956 to record their legendary collaboration Songs for Swingin' Lovers. It first entered the Billboard chart on March 31, 1956. It rose to #2 in the US, remaining on the chart for a total of 50 weeks. It also reached #8 in the UK, remaining on the chart for 8 weeks. Sinatra was so pleased with Riddle's work on the album that he described him as "the greatest arranger in the world".
If there's a better album about being in love, we'd love to hear it. From the opening bars of "You Make Me Feel So Young," the first track on the first side of Songs For Swingin' Lovers! the arrangements of Nelson's Riddle signal the album's intent. This is swingin' music at its finest. Even on somewhat slower numbers like "You Brought A New Kind Of Love to Me" and "Makin' Whoopee", Frank Sinatra and the orchestra still swing... they just do it a little softer. If anyone tells you that Frank Sinatra isn't a jazz singer, just put on Songs For Swingin' Lovers! from 1956.
The 1957 Metronome Yearbook called it "an impeccable set of performances", while AA Gill in the Sunday Times recently declared, "The sexiest record ever made!" What more could you ask for?
