Michael Jackson: "Xscape" – The new album of the "King of Pop"
With "Xscape", Epic Records is releasing a real new Michael Jackson album in collaboration with the Michael Jackson Estate – almost five years after the death of the King of Pop.
L.A. Reid, as head of Epic Records, was given unrestricted access to the Michael Jackson archives, which also contain all the voice recordings of the last 40 years. Reid then became the curator of a final list of recordings selected for this album.
These recordings were given to producers such as Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain. The goal was to revise the songs towards a fresh, up-to-date sound, while definitely preserving the artistic integrity of Michael Jackson. The music of Michael Jackson was to be transferred to the present day – just as Michael himself might have done if he had released the songs today.
"Xscape" was released on 9.5.2014 on CD and as a deluxe edition with CD and DVD, which contains the original versions and a documentation in addition to the new tracks. In addition, the album will also be released as a vinyl LP.
