"Heartache Moon" is a compilation by American singer-songwriter Rachael Yamagata, released on Frankenfisch Records in 2022. After taking her first musical steps with the band Bumpus in Chicago, Yamagata dared to establish herself as a solo artist at the beginning of the new millennium. Influenced by the music of her parents' home - Carol King, Roberta Flack, James Taylor - and blessed with a smoky voice, she developed a style between rock, pop and jazz reminiscent of her colleagues Alicia Keys and Norah Jones. The songs of the indie musician were heard in series such as "Wilsberg", "Grey's Anatomy" and "How I Met Your Mother".
About "Heartache Moon" she writes: "This record is my own private time capsule, it holds my deepest feelings. The songs come from different records and include some never-released gems - all capture something beautiful that consists of being broken. It is the deep immersion in the longing and pain that we dare to face - and this allows us to free ourselves from its heaviness. I have always found solace in the interpretation of pain. These songs are something like a tonic for the weathered heart; a glimmer of light in the darkness - the 'Heartache Moon'."
This record is my own private time capsule of deepest emotions. The songs span many records and include a few never released gems - all capturing something beautiful in being broken. It is the deep dive into longing and ache that we dare to face that can allow us to clear its heaviness. I've always found solace in the interpretation of pain.
