Toto Toto IV

Reissue of the fourth album by the American pop-rock group Toto originally released in 1982.
Toto IV won Grammy Awards for Album of the Year and Engineered Recording. The album reached #4 on Billboard's Pop Albums chart shortly after its release and started to drop down the chart. The single "Rosanna" (inspired by the relationship between Steve Porcaro and actress Rosanna Arquette) hit #2. The song "Africa" was released as the third single and it became the group's only No. 1 hit. "I Won't Hold You Back" came next and hit the top 10. With the success of "Africa", the album climbed back to the top 10 in early 1983.
Anyone who equips a rock record with the lackluster title "Four" must either be sure of victory or has already resigned. The group Toto must have experienced an alternating bath of these feelings, as there was a huge gap between refreshing economic success and devastating tirades of the critics' guild. Superficial texts without emotional impact were criticized by Billboard magazine and the Los Angeles Times even fired painful volleys at the personalities of the musicians by defaming them as "dubious artists with an industrial mentality" in allusion to their lively session work.
The weighty answer to these attacks was given by Toto in the fourth album, which brought the band an unsurpassed success with six Grammies. For ten months, the title "Africa" was enthroned at number 1 in the charts and, together with the super hit "Rosanna", represents two endurance runners, around whom a collection of powerful rock classics gathers that tear from their chairs. The fact that this will not change any time soon is proven by the next visit to the record store, where the bright red cover with the sword motif is guaranteed to peek out of the assortment rows, as if it wanted to signal: It must be the fourth!
