180g 45rpm Vinyl Double LP Pressed at Quality Record Pressings!
Mastered from Original Analog Tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound!
The remastering of the double LP at 45 rpm for Analogue Productions was done by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound!
Recorded in 1976 with the legendary George Martin as producer (The Beatles), both reprise their magic from Beck's Blow By Blow with an awesome array of jazz-rock-funk fusion, which is often cited as one of this genre's finest recordings.
This time for the eight incredible tracks, Jeff brings back the great Max Middleton on keys and Richard Bailey on drums, as well as new additions and future mainstay keyboardist Jan Hammer and the power drums of Michael Narada Walden, plus bassist Wilbur Bascomb.
With legendary tracks such as Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat," and Jan Hammer's "Blue Wind," Wired soon became a radio and retail staple which has truly endured and stood the test of time. Rightfully so, this album continues to inspire and influence a whole new generation of guitar players and music lovers worldwide.
Within two years, Jeff Beck set new standards for instrumental music and brought a breath of fresh air to the jazz-rock scene. In 1975 he turned to fusion and jazz rock and released "Blow By Blow", an impressive album that delighted both fans and critics. This was followed in 1976 by another instrumental highlight with "Wired" - a collaboration with keyboardist Jan Hammer.
With first-class collaborators at his side and eight excellent songs under his belt, including his legendary rendition of Charles Mingus' "Goodbye Pork Pie Hat" and Jan Hammer's "Blue Wind", Beck is once again in top form on "Wired". In addition to Hammer, ex-member of the Mahavishnu Orchestra and head of the Jan Hammer Group, drummer Narada Michael Walden and bassist Wilbur Bascomb strengthen the proven team of the "Blow By Blow" sessions with keyboardist Max Middleton, drummer Richard Bailey and Beatles producer Sir George Martin.
Now Wired is back bigger and better than ever with the deluxe Analogue Productions treatment - remastered from the original analog tapes by Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound, cut at 45 RPM, plated and pressed at Quality Record Pressings on 180g vinyl. Then packaged in deluxe tip-on gatefold jackets from Stoughton Printing. A great title, a brilliant reissue - what could be better?
...Wired contains some of the best jazz-rock fusion of the period...Within a two-year span, the twin towers Blow by Blow and Wired set a standard for instrumental rock that even Beck has found difficult to match. On Wired, with first-rate material and collaborators on hand, one of rock's most compelling guitarists is in top form. - Mark Kirschenmann, AllMusic.com
