Numbered, Limited Edition! Mastered on Mobile Fidelity's World-Renowned Mastering System and Pressed at RTI!
JT is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter James Taylor. It was released on June 22, 1977, via Columbia Records, making it his first album released for the label. Recording session took place from March 15 to April 24, 1977, at The Sound Factory in Los Angeles with Val Garay. Production was handled by Peter Asher.
James Taylor was in danger of falling into oblivion at the end of the 70s. He moved to Columbia Records and recorded his most successful album since "Sweat Baby James". With the 1977 release, the singer found his way back to a darker James Taylor with autobiographical songs at a stage in his life when he was singing about depression and contemplating "Another Grey Morning". At the same time, he expanded his folk-rock roots with a country touch and recorded "Bartender's Blues" with Linda Ronstadt as backing vocalist.
James Taylor created a new soundscape for this album, full of warmth and shimmering little details. He was supported by exceptional figures such as Carly Simon on female vocals and David Sanborn on saxophone. The MFSL Re-Issue has been prepared by Shawn R. Britton in an incredibly sensitive way and achieves an outstanding presence and attention to detail without drifting into coldness in the slightest. If there were more recordings of this quality, everyone would be audiophiles.
