Little Feat was founded by the late, great Lowell George and made music that was loose, funky, literary and impossible to classify. With "Dixie Chicken", the third album, released in 1973 on Warner Bros. Records, Little Feat reached its peak. Here the band found their characteristic sound: refined, soulful and irresistibly funky. The title song exudes southern charm, "Two Trains" captivates with its hypnotic rhythm and "Fat Man In The Bathtub" combines humor and groove in a way that only Lowell George could. A milestone of '70s rock and funk, "Dixie Chicken" finally gets the sonic treatment it deserves. The album was voted number 563 in Colin Larkin's All Time Top 1000 Albums. The cover artwork is by illustrator Neon Park and is a nod to a line from the album's third song, "Roll Um Easy".
