Charles Mingus The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady SHM-SACD

The question arises as to what is more astonishing: Charles Mingus' request to his psychologist to write the liner notes for his album, or the jazz composer's plan to write ballet music. What is certain, however, is that "The Black Saint And The Sinner Lady" received the Composition Prize of the Jury of the German Jazz Federation in 1964 and that the album is considered a milestone in modern jazz. Rolling Stone magazine ranked it number 7 on its list of the 100 greatest jazz albums of all time.
Also groundbreaking was the technique of Impulse! producer Bob Thiele, who used the technique of overdubbing, which was still young in 1963, to generate the sound of an entire orchestra from what was actually a medium-sized line-up. Sonically outstanding and musically impressive.
This title is a SHM-SACD. This format is the further development of the single-layer SACD and uses a particularly light-transparent plastic (Super High Material). It achieves a significantly better readability of the pit-land structures on the surface than is possible with hybrid SACDs. Universal's SHM-SACDs are generally re-digitized from the master tapes of the albums to DSD without any changes. SHM-SACDs can be played on any SACD player. Please do not use L'Art du Son or alcohol-based cleaning products. – Attention: All tracks are designed by Universal Music as limited edition collectibles for the Japanese market.
