Since his stunning debut in 1974 on the Three Blind Mice label, Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto has built a career that now spans four decades.

Since his impressive 1974 debut on the legendary Three Blind Mice label, Japanese pianist Tsuyoshi Yamamoto has built a career that now spans four decades. The recording of "Speak Low" took place on February 23 and 24, 2001 at Sound City Studios in Tokyo, Japan. The album was very well received by the jazz world, especially because of Tsuyoshi Yamamoto's clear and soulful interpretation of the pieces. His style is characterized by a pronounced melody and technical finesse, which are particularly evident on "Speak Low". His beautiful touch harmonizes perfectly with the musical sensibility of his rhythm section: Tsutomu Okada (bass) and Yoshitaka Uematsu (drums) lay the perfect carpet for Yamamoto's lyrical solos. "Speak Low" fits seamlessly into the tradition of great Japanese jazz productions, which have been internationally recognized since the 1970s, especially because of their high production quality and the intense emotional expressiveness of the performers.
Venus Records was founded in 1992 by Tetsuo Hara, who had previously worked as a producer for RCA Victor. The label uses a special mastering process called "Hyper Magnum Sound" for the limited Japanese SACD (DSD, Non-Hybrid) of "Speak Low", which produces a very powerful, present sound and is highly appreciated by audiophiles worldwide.
