This is a conceptual album of soft jazz with colors of Latin rhythms and is based on the Danish author H.C. Andersen's dramaturgy of the story of "The Little Mermaid".
Fans of high-quality download formats will have already come across the name "Yamina", because at the end of 2013 sound magician Jan-Eric Persson recorded four songs with the fantastic jazz singer in real DSD128 resolution. This download EP became so successful that many fans asked for a full album. The decision was quickly made and the result is: "How Deep Is The Ocean" – a concept album based on the story "The Little Mermaid" by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen and musically moving between soft and Latin jazz.
Between songs from the American Songbook and various original compositions from Yamina's own songwriter pen, the album captivates above all with its live atmosphere: The sextet played together in direct editing, without additional takes and overdubs! The album is the first release from Opus 3 Records that was produced as an 8-channel recording in real DSD128 and of course mixed 100% analogue, which means: It has never been converted into the PCM format in any form! It is the first album recorded in 8-channel native DSD128 for Opus 3 Records and, of course, mixed 100% analogue, i.e. it has never been in the PCM domain which is also what 'native" stands for.
This is a 'live recording' with no audience, where everybody played together with no overdubs.
