Maria Winther Dreamsville Hybrid Multi-Channel & Stereo SACD

Dreamsville, the debut album by Maria Winther, contains mostly music from The American Songbook. She is joined by an elite group of Swedish jazz musicians Joakim Milder, Christian Spering, Gosta Rundqvist and Ola Hultgren.
For 15 years, Jan-Eric Persson was looking for a jazz singer who would meet the demands and philosophy of Opus 3 Records. In the spring of 2006, the pianist and composer Gösta Rundqvist presented his new quintet. Among them: the singer Maria Winther! It only took a few rehearsals and it became clear to everyone involved that Maria Winther is the singer they had been looking for so longingly. Then everything happened very quickly: Rundqvist became not only the producer of her debut album, but also the arranger and musical director of the quintet around Maria Winther, whose line-up was already fixed: With Joakim Milder on tenor saxophone, who has meanwhile become a university lecturer, and his old companion Christian Spering on bass, two musicians play here whose mutual musical understanding gives the entire production its unmistakable character. Drummer Ola Hultgren complements the lineup with fantastic interaction. The song material for "Dreamsville" is largely taken from the American Songbook – songs that Maria Winther grew up with and became a part of her. All that remains to be mentioned is: "Dreamsville" is a great album!
In order to create optimal conditions for the musicians to record "Dreamsville", the recordings were made in a small concert hall. In order to authentically capture spontaneity, interaction and improvisation, any kind of overdubbing and subsequent editing was dispensed with. The sonically outstanding multichannel hybrid SACD from Opus 3 Records includes a booklet with detailed information on the recording technology and miking used.
