Whenever You Need Somebody is Rick Astley's first album released in 1987 on RCA Records. It is his best selling album and, according to his own official website, sold 15.2 million copies worldwide.
Richard Paul "Rick" Astley (born February 6, 1966) is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and radio personality. He is known for his 1987 song, "Never Gonna Give You Up", which was a #1 hit single in 25 countries. Astley holds the record for being the only male solo artist to have his first 8 singles reach the Top 10 in the UK[ and by retirement in 1993 had sold approximately 40 million records worldwide.
Briton Rick Astley released his first album in 1987 on RCA Records in collaboration with the successful producer team Stock, Aitken & Waterman and landed a hit with this debut. Never going to Give You Up, Together Forever and of course the title track Whenever You Need Somebody are titles that should be familiar to every radio listener.
This CD is part of a series of Sony Music K2 HD productions, which were produced at the instigation of the national company in Hong Kong. Sony Music in Hong Kong takes First Impression Music as a model, who succeed in selling their recordings at high prices in Hong Kong, which is notoriously infected by product piracy. That's why Hakamata Takeshi, who is also responsible for FIM productions as a mastering engineer, has had some enormously popular productions reworked by the JVC FLAIR Studio in Tokyo. The K2 HDs are made in Japan and come in a beautifully designed hardcover booklet in a protective slipcase with the K2HD logo. As with FIM, the CDs themselves are also protected in a fleece sleeve.
