Greatest Hits Vol. II is the third English greatest hits album released by American singer Gloria Estefan, but is the fourth compilation and twenty-third album overall, released in 2001. The album includes most of her English hits from 1994's Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me up to the then-recent Gloria! (1998).
"If We Were Lovers" is the English version of Estefan's hit Spanish single, "Con Los Años Que Me Quedan", released from her first Spanish album Mi Tierra. Due to its UK success, this English version firstly appeared on this best-of album.
The compilation has four new songs, three of which became singles: "You Can't Walk Away from Love" which featured on the 2001 film Original Sin starring Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie; "Out of Nowhere," a heavy dance tune released as a single and "Y-Tu-Conga," a remix of Estefan's popular single "Conga." "I Got No Love" which is probably Estefan's only R&B song, remained unreleased.
The Cuban singer's second best-of collection brings together almost all of her hits since her first greatest hits album. The collection is particularly interesting due to three new titles that are among the artist's best, including You Can't Walk Away From Love. Estefan's duet with the US boy band 'N Sync, Music of My Heart, written for the film of the same name by Wes Craven, also gained great popularity. Pop music of the 1990s, a mixture of classical ballads and energetic dance numbers, in first-class quality!
This CD is part of a series of Sony Music K2 HD productions, which were produced at the instigation of the national company in Hong Kong. Sony Music in Hong Kong takes First Impression Music as a model, who succeed in selling their recordings at high prices in Hong Kong, which is notoriously infected by product piracy. That's why Hakamata Takeshi, who is also responsible for FIM productions as a mastering engineer, has had some enormously popular productions reworked by the JVC FLAIR Studio in Tokyo. The K2 HDs are made in Japan and come in a beautifully designed hardcover booklet in a protective slipcase with the K2HD logo. As with FIM, the CDs themselves are also protected in a fleece sleeve.
