Oscar's Motet Choir Cantate Domino UHQCD

Cantate Domino is probably the best-known audiophile recording of church music. There is hardly anyone who does not own one of the various versions of this legendary recording of the concerts at the Oscarskyrhan in Stockholm. Recorded on a Revox A-77 tape machine with only two microphones, the recordings from 1976 offer maximum spatial information and naturalness.
It was Winston Ma who, in the course of the release of the album in UHD format, revealed the big secret about the size of the choir. He heard about the story of sound engineer Bertil Alving, who went back to Oscar Church four days after the actual recording because of his dissatisfaction with it. Equipped with his recording device and loudspeakers, which he placed on the gallery, he listened to the choir again and again and worked on the sound with his machines until he was satisfied with the result. When Ma counted how many singers actually made up the choir, which critics attributed to be between 250 and 400 people, he came up with the astonishing number: 38. Plus organist, choirmaster and soloist.
Fabio Camorani has taken on the original tapes again in 2021 in order to capture them in the best possible quality on UHQCD. This appears in a jewellery box with a detailed booklet and certificate and is limited to 1,111 copies.
