In December 2013, Fausto Mesolella released "Live Ad Alcatrez," recorded live on August 25 of that year at the Free University of Alcatraz in Santa Cristina di Gubbio.
Fausto Mesolella is an Italian guitarist, composer, and arranger. Since 1986, Mesolella has been part of the Piccola Orchestra Avion Travel.
Guitarist Fausto Mesolella is one of Italy's best session and studio musicians. Numerous musicians engaged him as an accompanist for their albums or tours, including international stars such as Paolo Conte, Gianna Nannini and Andrea Bocelli. Mesolella, who has received many awards as a guitarist and composer, has also been active in the jazz-pop combo Piccola Orchestra Avion Travel for over 25 years and has also been active as a solo artist since 2005. The live album "Ad Alcatraz", recorded in August 2013, is his third solo album.
With a carefully coordinated program of his own compositions and his versions of famous classics by Nino Rota, Di Capua, John Lennon, Astor Piazolla and Michael Jackson, the Italian master guitarist thrilled his audience during his performance in the remote Umbrian Alcatraz, a mixture of university and holiday village. Without fear of different genres or styles, Mesolella impressively proves on "Live Ad Alcatraz" that he is not only a technically brilliant guitarist, but also a highly original arranger. Produced in fantastic sound quality, "Live Ad Alcatraz" is now also released on XRCD.
